“Abba loved you before you knew what was love. He saw it all, yet still chose the cross. You were the one He was thinking of when He rose from the grave. Rid of those shackles, His victory is yours. He tore the veil for you to come close. There is no reason to stand at a distance anymore, you’re not far from home.” – Steffany Gretzinger
For me, to remove the fig leaves means to look at how shame infiltrated and high-jacked your life. Then embracing the process of letting go of the pattern. Yes, it is a thinking pattern, behavioural pattern, emotional pattern, and a pattern that’s been repeating for centruries. It’s the pattern lurking behind abuse, abandonment, and a lack of belonging. I say ENOUGH is ENOUGH! Abba Father’s children have been held captive by shame long enough, it’s time to rid of those shackles.
Is it easy? Certainly not, the process of removing the fig leaves takes courage, determination, self-compassion, and a willingness to “FACE” the lies you have believed for far too long.
“I am so thankful that I chose to do the Defeat that Feeling journey. What comes to mind when I think back about this journey is ‘Truth that sets free’. The Truth of Jesus truly does set us free, and brings healing and life and purpose. I started the Defeat that feeling journey not knowing what to expect, but after the first video I realised that shame had infiltrated so many areas of my life over the years, and I did not even know it! To identify something and to name it for what it is, is the first step to freedom.
The journey is wonderfully compiled and easy to follow. Trusting the Holy Spirit and choosing to engage in each activity truly ‘took’ the information and truth shared from my head to my heart! Throughout the journey, light was shed on many hurting areas in my heart and mind, and Jesus walked with me through them as He brought them up (and continues to do so).
I am also super thankful for Elsa for listening to the Lord and living out her passion and purpose! Her encouragement, love, and wisdom helped me to see and process things along the journey in an effective and lasting way. Some of my friends (who were not aware that I was doing the journey) have commented on how content and at peace I ‘look’! What has changed on this inside is even showing on the outside! Yay!
Super thankful for this awesome, challenging, and life-giving course! The truths and the tools that I have received for the journey of life during these few weeks have equipped me to walk in victory and enabled me to love God, myself, and others more deeply. And that is awesome.” – Overcomer from Somerset West
