Control is the soul’s way of protecting itself against failure, harm, pain, loss, and proving its worthiness. It is an unconscious pattern that runs in the background. The soul will, therefore, not bring ‘control’ to be healed or dealt with while it is operating.

The pattern to prevent the ability to live freely and authentically runs in your decision-making, attachment capabilities, and discernment.

Yes, control has its purpose and its season. Let’s look at a practical example;

A newborn needs its mother in order to survive. The mother is in control of the infant’s feeding, caring, and needs. Thus, this is an appropriate, healthy form of control. As the baby matures there are still things the mother needs to control, for example potty training.

In some relationships, control is out of control. How? It leaves either of the parties feeling misunderstood, misused, controlled, judged, belittled or insignificant. In this kind of relationship, your soul will feel compelled to fit in, please those around you, build codependent relationships, and self-sacrifice.

If unhealthy control is a pattern we grew up with or were exposed to for a long period, the habit of under-expressing, feeling pressured, and being fake will seem normal. That makes healing control even harder.
